Toddle Tunes

Toddle Tunes loves Netmail

Challenge

As Toddle Tunes has grown as an organization, so has their need for a more efficient and secure email platform. Parents are required to submit vaccination and health forms for their children before attending classes at Toddle Tunes. These documents need to be stored securely and be easily retrievable.

Solution

Amazon WorkMail was deployed in advance. When Toddle Tunes closed down for the evening, data was extracted from their existing email platform, and integrity checks were performed to make certain all data was intact. Finally, in the early hours of morning, the data was seamlessly injected into Amazon WorkMail with no end-user disruption.

Results

After another successful Netmail migration, the clean professional look and reliability of Amazon’s WorkMail platform quickly gained favor with the Toddle Tunes staff. Overnight, their inbox was cleaner, and it was easier to delete, store, and retrieve emails in a practical manner.

Overview

“Every day something wonderful or magical happens – every single day.” It doesn’t take any convincing to get Toddle Tunes co-owner, Lisa Mueller, to share her love for what she does. Together with her husband Matthew Mueller, they created Toddle Tunes, a childhood development program for children that enhances motor function and cognitive skills through the use of live music.

Toddle Tunes: Something Special

Though Toddle Tunes originated from their desire to share their love of music with children, they were quickly overwhelmed by the responsiveness they received. As Lisa explains, “it’s amazing to watch kids hearing live music for the first time – everything about them lights up and they are compelled to move. It’s an emotional experience.” They soon learned there was a science behind what they had accidently discovered, that live music impacts brain function by stimulating both sides of the brain at once. This discovery prompted them to study childhood development, which in turn, helped them design curriculums for different age groups.

Toddle Tunes is not your typical music school. Children below the age of 4 aren’t being taught music, but getting their neuro transmitters working with their hands and feet. The music stimulates movement, like clapping hands, which helps develop coordination. Because music is inherently joyful, it opens the minds and hearts of children, which makes the learning process easy and fun. This process of learning is especially helpful to children with disabilities.

Business Challenge

As Toddle Tunes has grown as an organization, so has their need for a more efficient and secure email platform. Parents are required to submit vaccination and health forms for their children before attending classes at Toddle Tunes. These documents need to be stored securely and be easily retrievable. Between multiple email accounts, Toddle Tunes had over 200,000 emails they needed to preserve and migrate safely.

Enter: Amazon WorkMail.

The Migration: why Amazon and why Netmail?

Netmail and Amazon, between them, had the reputation of reliability for which Toddle Tunes was looking; they wanted someone they could trust. Although Netmail typically does migrations for organizations of a much larger size and scope, Toddle Tunes found a special place in the hearts of the Netmail staff once word of the wonderful work they do spread through the office. It didn’t take long for someone to propose doing the migration for free. Lead by Netmail’s CIO, Max Morgan --who has two little ones of his own-- a small group of volunteers banded together to help.

Methodology

So no little music lovers would miss classes, it was important the migration interfered as little as possible with Toddle Tunes’ normal operations. Therefore, Netmail decided to do the migration at night. In preparation for the migration, Amazon WorkMail was deployed in advance. When Toddle Tunes closed down for the evening, data was extracted from their existing email platform, and integrity checks were performed to make certain all data was intact. Finally, in the early hours of morning, the data was injected into Amazon WorkMail, where it was ready and waiting for users in the morning. The process was seamless and there was no end-user disruption.

The Benefits: “Sometimes, it’s the little things that make a big difference.”

Before the migration to Amazon WorkMail, Toddle Tunes used an inefficient method of backing up their emails and files, which consisted primarily of forwarding mail from one free email service to another. The process was laborious and less-than-reliable.

After migration, the clean professional look and reliability of Amazon’s WorkMail platform, quickly gained favor with the Toddle Tunes staff. Overnight, their inbox was cleaner, and it was easier to delete, store, and retrieve emails in a practical manner.

One of the biggest benefits though, came from the functionality of the email address bar in WorkMail. When doing group mailings in the past, they encountered a high volume of emails being returned because of typing mistakes in the addresses. With Amazon WorkMail, errors in the formatting of email addresses are indicated before they send, providing the opportunity to correct accordingly. This functionality, along with read-receipt, provides them peace of mind that parents will receive crucial notifications about classes, without delay.

Giving Back

Netmail is a 100% employee owned company. As such, we take great pride in our work and feel rewarded when our clients are happy. Working with Toddle Tunes, however, was something special considering the wonderful work they do with children. Everyone at Netmail who was fortunate enough to be involved, was grateful to have the opportunity.

Thanks to Amazon WorkMail, Toddle Tunes no longer has to worry about the security of their student’s vaccination forms, or deal with the limitations that come from an inferior mail system. Instead, they can do what they do best: put smiles on faces, get kids to move, and share their love for music.

The Bottom Line
